My x38 north and south bridges have passive cooling. I have brought my fsb up to 1800, but right now I have it at 1600 so that my memory has a 1:1 ratio with the cpu.

you should have read the reviews for the StrikerExtreme, it sucks. all the 680 boards suck in fact.

I most certainly did read the striker reviews. It had BIOS issues which were basically throttling the FSB speed. Those have since been resolved. Passive cooling the bridges is fine if you have an active CPU cooler but mine is liquid cooled. I also read that the NB/SB voltages are best kept locked, which I will try tomorrow when I have time.

Now I'm gonna rant on liquid cooling. Liquid cooling is over rated. The heat still needs to be dissipated, meaning you'll still need a large radiator like heatsink for the liquid to flow through and dissipate the heat to the air.

I got a laser infrared thermometer for xmas,
CPU at 30.8C
NB at 64.3C
SB at 51.0C
RAM at 51.9C
GPU 52.7C
HDD320GB 33.5C
HDD750GB 32.5C

My Q6600 runs at 30C under load at 3.0Ghz, NB at 44 SB at 42. GPUs are at 51/54 loaded. The pressure from the coolant means that it's ASTP is at a lower temperature than the surrounding air, so it conducts and disipates heat better than a single fan could do.

I cranked my Q6600 up to 3.6 and with my WC it gets to about 45 at load, 39 idle.

Yeah i think actually most windows crashes are caused because of hardware issues more than the OS bugs. If Microsoft sold windows only on systems they built there probably would be no crashes with them too. I imagine apple is well aware of it too. Kind of a dim light for Steve Jobs to shine under if you ask me. But in the end they get the profits from there computers too. I live in Hollywood in a studio and i get really tired of people boasting about there mac and how awesome it is. I just dont really think its worth arguing with them anymore. Its like God going to a atheist and telling them He is God... there just not gonna listen.
